Mount Vernon Community Center

Annual Report

The Mount Vernon Community Center Trustees are continuing their work of restoration of our historic building and increasing use by the community. The current trustees are Beth Evans (Chair), Fran Hardy (Co-Chair), Terri Berniger (Secretary), Rhonda Marquis (Treasurer), Fred Webber, Alice Bloom, Sue Inch, Peggy Stockford, and Don Warren.

The focus of the last year has been on the restoration of the windows. As you can see, the windows have been beautifully restored. We invite all members of the community to join us on any Saturday morning for the Community Cafe and see the windows for themselves.

Annual events for fun and fundraising included the Summer Art Show, Annual Auction, Christmas Arts and Crafts Show (even with a power outage), and Tree Lighting. Winterfest this year was cancelled due to a lack of cooperation from Mother Nature.

The goals for the next year are to improve the acoustics of the building without damage to the interior beauty of the building, obtaining storm windows, annual painting of the ramp and stairs and general upkeep to the exterior and interior of the building. In addition, we will be focusing on summer programming for 2005 for our children and young adults.                       -

All these grand goals need community support and volunteers! We invite any interested members of the community to join us as trustees or to volunteer for a specific activity. Please contact Beth Evans (293-3773) or Fran Hardy (293-4646) if you are interested in joining in supporting our community center. We may be small but we are mighty!

Also, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the past trustees and volunteers for their support of the Mount Vernon Community Center! We are able to continue this work due to the past efforts of many outstanding community. members.

Respectfully submitted

Terri Bemiger Secretary 2004-2005
